Adventuring...

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple days, my mom and I have been toodling around the island. And by toodling, I mean lots and lots of driving and stopping, and picturing etc. On Monday, we drove all along the North Shore until we quite literally couldn't drive anymore. The road ends at apparently the best beach on the island, (Ke'e Beach) which has some killer snorkling. We are going to wait until Katie gets here to do the snorkling, so be on the lookout for cool underwater fish shots!! What we did see, that were very cool, were caves. The legend goes that the caves were dug by the fire goddess Pele. She dug them for her lover, but left them when they became filled with water. They are, indeed, very spooky. Despite the 'danger, falling rocks, don't linger' sign,

I went all the way into the wet cave,

and it was so quiet, it was almost disturbing. Very spooky. Mom went ALL the way into the dry cave.

Unfortunately, Monday was Memorial Day in the U.S. and us silly Canadians didn't realize it, so most of the parks and beaches were PACKED with people, and all of the state parks and touristy things were closed. Lucky for us, we are here for a little while, so we added some things to the list to go back to. Like the Moku'ae'ae Island Bird Sanctuary, for example.

Tuesday, we both were weary from our previous day of journeying, so we stuck close to the house. We went into Kapa'a town and booked our tattoo appointments with one very sexy tattoo artist Garrett at Kapu Tattoo, for the Saturday before we depart the island. That's right, people, I have gotten my mother addicted to ink. Very exciting stuff. Tuesday evening was my weight watchers meeting. The leader is very bubbly and they had pretty cool new products that I am excited to try!! (Pam, if you are reading, I grabbed you one!) Just as an aside, I stayed the same. Which I will take considering I am on vacation. I am hoping to be down next week with all of the activities I have planned for this coming week!!

Today, we were going to hit the beach, but it was strangely chilly and a little windy and not beachy weather. So, we went shopping. SURPRISE!!! I bought a bag of mixed feelings. These cute things are oddly the big rage right now, and honestly, they were too cute, I couldn't leave them in the store. They are called Kimochis. You are supposed to buy the big doll which comes with 3 feelings, that they keep in their various pockets, and it is a tool used to teach kids about emotions. You can buy extra feelings to give to your Kimochi dolls. I bypassed the doll and went straight for the bag of mixed feelings. Funny stuff.

Anyhoo, that is all for now... we have more adventures lined up, so stay tuned!!!
