Yesterday, Katie and I decided last minute to go on a kayak adventure! So, in the morning, we bombed down to the little shack outside the safeway that sells tours, hoping that they would have two spots available for a tour yesterday!!! AND THEY DID!!
It was a very cool tour! 2 miles kayaking into the woods along the Wailua River. Followed by a 1 mile hike into these spectacular secret waterfalls, where we could swim and frolic under the falls, lunch (provided) and then hike out and kayak back. All in all a 5 hour tour!! What we learned is that the only way in to see these falls is by kayak, and the only way you can kayak along the Wailua is to take a tour. You can go and rent your own kayak and do it up anywhere else on the island, but the Wailua is strictly a tour circuit. Weird. Any way you slice it, it was an AWESOME day. Not to mention that our guide was sexy. In a geeky-knowlegable-about-nature-spends-his-days-being-one-with-his-kayak way.
