So, I had this great audition. And by 'great audition', I mean one of THOSE auditions, where you connect with the audition panel and they love you, and your voice is perfect, and you connect with the songs and all works out brilliantly. Where you walk out of the room and think "I totally booked that show".
Strangely enough, it was my former agent that sent me the info. She emailed me with the music director's email address, I emailed him, he sent me the audition info and show info, and I thought "why the hell not". So I went.
The audition info he gave me was "prepare your most comfortable musical theatre song". Ballad, up-tempo, contemporary, classic, whatever. I love that. So, I prepared A Way Back to Then. When I finished, I looked over and the musical director was flipping through my book and asked if I could do a little bit of Bewitched, Bothered & Bewildered. So, I did, and then they thanked me and I thanked them and left. THEN, when I was on my way out the building, the musical director came running out and yelling "Sarah, Sarah, come back"... very exciting. He asked me if I had a comedic monologue, which I didn't, but I had a funny song. SOOOOO, I went back into the room, did my comedy song, and then they asked if I knew 'Cry Me A River'. No, not the Justin Timberlake song, the old-school torch song, which (of course) I do. So, he says to me "okay, go to the back of the room, and start with your back to us. Then, on the first line, turn around, and slowly walk to us, and give us everything you've got." And I did. All of it.
So, I got the email today... I booked the show. It is a show about an old lounge singer, and I am playing the lead role... I am very excited!!
In other news, I am down 2.6 lbs this week!
And, I can't call the boy 'the boy' anymore. He doesn't like it. He doesn't realize that that is just something I call him and it has nothing to do with his age but is a shortened form of the boyfriend. So, he will be known as Bryan from now on!!!
Katie and I officially started rehearsals this past week, and you know what that means, now that music is photocopied and we are singing every Wednesday afternoon, there will be teaser videos afoot!!! Woo! Be on the lookout!

Congratulations!! That is fantastic news. I hope it's playing in town, so I can come and see it!
AMAZING!!! I will come to see this show. I'm so happy for you- it sounds like the perfect show for you, but also to have an audition like that is like a balm for the soul. Way to go! And kudos to your former agent for that act of kindness.
